OCCLUSION SKILLS DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

Hands-On Workshop

December 2nd & 3rd, 2011

NEW FOR THIS WORKSHOP I will present a Live Demonstration for taking centric relation bite records for a prepared restorative case.

I will take the bite records for a rehabilitation case. The upper arch is prepared and in provisional restorations and I will demonstrate live how to take the centric relation bite record. I will also show you how to verify the bite record is correct by using two bite records and the Sam III and MPI.

These are techniques that I have never demonstrated live and over-the-shoulder at a workshop before.

Along with the live demonstration for restorative bite records I will also be demonstrating how to preform a functional analysis and digital photography series.

I have created a short 4-minute video below that explains this addition to the workshop agenda!

I would also like to point out that this workshop comes with a very detailed and comprehensive handout. It includes my actual keynote slides printed out in the handout as well as my practice forms and a detailed materials list.

Don’t miss out on this GREAT LEARNING EXPERIENCE!!!

I have filmed a short video that contains some video clips from my last 2 workshops so you can see some of the over the shoulder demonstrations.

The first video shows me taking a leaf gauge centric relation bite record as part of my functional analysis demonstration.

The second video demonstrates taking a Facebow transfer with the Sam 3 system.

The third video shows a clip where I take a mandibular occlusal photograph from the digital photography demonstration.

During the workshop I will demonstrate how to take all 20 views from my digital dental photography series.

Click on the video below to watch these demonstrations.

This workshop will help you simplify and take the complexity out of Occlusion in your Dental Practice.

This workshop will help you master the skills and techniques that will be the foundation for treating larger, more complex cases for the rest of your career!

This workshop is designed to really take your skills with occlusion to a new level. I will demonstrate live on a patient how to perform a functional analysis including facebow transfer, bite records using multiple techniques and materials and a simple technique to find the initial point of contact for patients you are evaluating. I will then demonstrate how to take a digital photo series for your patients. All of these demonstrations will take place in my dental practice and will be filmed with either a high definition video camera or my Zeiss microscope.

The procedures will be projected onto two large flat screen TV’s so that you can either watch chair-side or see what I am seeing through the microscope on one of the large displays. Participants will gain experience performing a functional analysis on each other and then trim their bite records and mount and analyzing their cases on the Sam 3 articulator. This is an excellent protocol to master these skills by seeing them demonstrated live then practice the techniques with support and encouragement. We will also spend time as a group, treatment planning cases that the participants bring from their own patient base using the Risk Assessment for Complex Cases evaluation form.

Course Synopsis

  • Over the shoulder demonstrations of many of the the techniques that I use in my practice, including a functional analysis with multiple centric relation bite record techniques, accurate facebow transfer, and mounting and analyzing the case on a Sam 3 articulator. I will also demonstrate how to take a digital photo series that will help you treatment plan your cases more effectively.
  • Practice the correct technique for a functional analysis including facebow transfers, bite record taking, trimming bite records and mounting and analyzing of your cases on the Sam 3 articulator. You will then verify the accuracy of your mounting.
  • You will have the opportunity to try out the microscope on one another.
  • Treatment planning workshop where participants will bring cases from their own practice to treatment plan with the group using the Risk Assessment for Complex Cases guidelines. The participants from my last workshop felt that the treatment planning workshop was an excellent way to tie together all of the concepts and techniques by looking at cases from each others practices and treatment planning them based on risk assessment.
  • You will receive an extensive course binder with the keynote presentation printed out for your future reference.
